CBS Isothermal LN2 cryogenic storage systems
The Isothermal V-series cryogenic storage vessels offer superior sample integrity. Their innovative jacket technology provides dry storage, excellent temperature consistency, increased sample storage, and improved safety. Currently, they are the only models on the market that offer completely dry LN2 storage.
Models range from the 30 litre V-1500AB which can store up to 9100 vials (2ml) or 434 blood bags (50ml) through to the 140 litre V-5000EH-AB vessel which can accommodate up to 46,500 vials or 2208 blood bags. Standard models have a wide opening lid that provides quick and easy access to stored samples.
The Jacket: Patented Isothermal Technology
The innovative jacketed-space surrounds the storage chamber, separating the liquid nitrogen from the storage chamber, so that samples are completely isolated from contact with LN2. Instead, LN2 is stored in the jacketed space that surrounds the main storage chamber. This technology separates the CBS vessels from the traditional LN2 freezers available on the market which have LN2 in the chamber with the samples.
This dry storage environment reduces the risk of sample cross-contamination and eliminates the risk of LN2 splashes, improving safety for users. Since there is no liquid LN2 at the bottom of the vessel, there is also more space for samples. And unlike traditional ‘wet’ cryogenic storage, LN2 cannot seep into sample vials which improves sample viability.
The jacketed LN2 layer surrounds the entire sample storage area (top to bottom), this enables temperature variation of <6°C from the top of the chamber to the bottom—an improvement on traditional LN2 vapour storage.

Carousel version
The Isothermal carousel models allow the easy removal of one rack at a time and are suitable for laboratories with restricted ceiling height. This design enables the carousel to be rotated from outside of the freezer, so users do not need to remove one rack (or more) to get to the one they need. The square opening with lift-off lid enables access to square racks and helps lower LN2 consumption through reduced exposure to room temperature.

Controller
All cryogenic freezers in the Isothermal range come with a programmable controller. The digital controller features a dual temperature display, autofill, filler timer, alarms, and exportable reports. Up to 12 alarms and events (e.g. fill start, fill stop) with date/time can be recorded. The dual display shows Temp A: the temperature at the lid; Temp B: the temperature inside the storage space.
