Sample collection, transportation, and storage
Specimen collection swabs, and transport swabs
Our portfolio includes a large selection of swabs for specimen collection and transportation to suit many applications in microbiology, healthcare (e.g. MRSA testing and ENT), forensic sampling, environmental monitoring, and more. Please contact us to discuss your application.
Sterile transport media swabs are particularly suited for microbiological sample collection and transport. Available with different media including Amies, Cary Blair as well as solutions specifically suited for samples containing virus.
Our M40-compliant Amies sterile media swabs are available with or without charcoal and with a choice of PS or aluminium shaft. You’ll also find a range of dry swabs—ideal for when samples do not need to be transported.
Enrichment media
Easy and practical to use, these media are designed to promote the growth of your target bacteria while inhibiting the growth of non-target bacteria or other microorganisms. We supply Selenite broth, LIM broth, and Thioglycollate broth; IVD compliant.
Dipslides
Camlab’s Total Viable Count and Rose Combi dipslides provide a simple solution for testing aerobic and anaerobic bacteria levels in water. Simply dip slides in water sample and incubate for 48 hrs. Manufactured in the UK and supplied with sample labels.
Sample containers
Discover a wide range of cost-effective bijou, Universals and larger sample containers (sterile and non-sterile, with and without labels, and boric acid) suitable for a variety of sample types. LeakBuster™ containers come in four sizes and are manufactured from medical grade PP with a high chemical resistance. Vacutest® urine collection tubes and containers enable the safe and easy transfer and manipulation of urine samples.
Specimen bags & accessories
Used in a wide range of applications, these bags are designed for the safe handling, storage and disposal of samples and consumables such as Petri dishes and culture plates. Available with biohazard printing. Our laboratory marker pens are suitable for many surfaces – even when wet and cold (alcohol resistant version available).
Cold storage

Loops, spreaders and Petri dishes
Our sterile loops are available in a variety of formats and pack sizes to suit different application requirements. You’ll also find vented, unvented, aseptic and sterile Petri dishes made from PS with high optical clarity—ideal for microbiology.
Anaerobic workstations
The Baker Ruskinn anaerobic workstations provide a temperature and humidity controlled, strictly anaerobic environment, providing a quick and easy alternative to anaerobic jars. The Thermo Fisher Scientific NanoDrop™ microvolume spectrophotometers offer laboratories accurate quantification with small sample volumes (1-2 µl). Colony counters
For quick and reliable counting of bacterial colonies, we provide both manual and automatic colony counters from Interscience. From the Scan 50, for manual counting with all types of media, through to the Scan 4000 automatic with HD colour and high accuracy… all come with a three-year warranty.
For more complex requirements, such as counting without culturing, fluorescence-based automated counters are available.
PCR cyclers and consumables

Autoclaves & accessories
With autoclaves from Priorclave, Prestige Medical, Astell and Tuttnauer, you’ll be able to find the right model to suit your needs – whether that’s a compact benchtop autoclave or a large capacity, fully programmable model to suit a high throughput environment.
Medline Scientific’s popular ‘sweetie’ jars are a convenient solution for the disposal of bench waste and other small, contaminated waste in microbiology or pathology. Manufactured from polyethylene terephthalate, they are ideal to autoclave. Version available with biohazard label. We also supply a range of autoclave bags and tape.
Cleaning
Ready-to-use cleaning and disinfection solutions eliminate the need for diluting solutions in-house (and the associated risks of handling strong oxidizers) e.g. IPA and Sodium Hypochlorite. Available in a variety of concentrations, and suitable for general disinfection in laboratories. Our anti-viral wipes are highly effective, cost-efficient and manufactured in the UK.

Preventative maintenance and ad-hoc repairs

Scheduled preventative maintenance inspections are designed to keep your equipment and instrumentation running reliably and efficiently, for longer.
In addition to preventative maintenance, you can contact us for non-contractual / ad-hoc repairs. For ‘mission-critical’ equipment, repair contracts are particularly useful to minimise downtime.
On-site and off-site calibration
Instrument accuracy and precision is critical for many of our customers’ work. Ensuring that your equipment is correctly calibrated is a proactive step to support operational excellence, safety, and long-term cost savings. On-site and off-site services are available.
Validation
We offer full validation services including DQ/IQ/OQ/PQ and FDS/URS/VMP preparation and execution, with supporting documentation. For microbiological safety cabinets, we test and validate to BSEN12469:2000 and also undertake KI Discus® containment testing to BS5726:1992.
