LithoLoops™ and ActiLoops™ from Molecular Dimensions are precise tools for your protein crystallography workflow. They come in a wide variety of sizes, shapes, and configurations to help you find the right product to fit your crystals and your process. LithoLoops™ and ActiLoops™ are precision mounted and designed to give low background diffraction.
Both Litholoop™ and ActiLoops™ are available in three formats and a variety of sizes:
- Mounted: Litholoops™ or ActiLoops™ mounted on pins (pack of 20).
- Vial-less System: LithoLoops™ or ActiLoops™ mounted on pins with CryoCaps supplied on a plastic rack (pack of 24).
- CryoMount Set: LithoLoops™ or ActiLoops™ mounted in CryoCaps and Magnetic CryoVials (pack of 20). These sets are provided in a storage box.

LithoLoops™ for protein crystallography
LithoLoops™, with their etched polyamide resin construction, produce very low background diffraction. They exhibit low hydrophobicity which reduces the volume of cryoprotectant/mother liquor retained in the loop, even when using viscous solutions. Other features and benefits include:
- Reusable* with high resistance to mechanical stress
- Precision manufacture for reproducible size and shape
- Available round and elliptical in shape (for needles) to suit different crystal shapes, or with a mesh design for fragile or microcrystals
1. Mounted LithoLoops™
Precise and reproducible machine-made loops
Mounted LithoLoops™ offer excellent reproducibility with standard distances from the base of the loop to the end of the mounting pin, making crystal centring easier. Laboratories can extend the lifetime of these loops by cleaning them in an ultrasonic bath.*
Available in round, elliptical, and mesh design.
Round design: Sizes range from 0.02mm through to 1.0mm
Elliptical design: Sizes range from 0.02×0.1mm through to 1.0×0.5mm
Mesh design: Sizes range from 0.1mm through to 0.4mm
Starter packs are also available—ideal for data collection of different crystal sizes and morphologies. The Magnetic CryoCaps are sold separately and are available either with or without a DataMatrix.
2. Litholoop™ Vial-less System
Precise and economical-ideal for laboratories using unipucks for storage
Loops are supplied without magnetic vials. Instead, 24 loops are supplied mounted on pins with CryoCaps, on a storage rack. Each CryoCap is DataMatrix etched and etched with the size of the LithoLoop™. The rack is suitable for storage and its lifetime can be extended when cleaned in an ultrasonic bath.

3. LithoLoop™ CryoMount Sets
Complete with Magnetic CryoVials for crystal storage
Set of 20 LithoLoops™ mounted on pins in CryoCaps and Magnetic CryoVials. Each CryoCap is DataMatrix etched and etched with the size of the LithoLoop™. These sets are provided in a handy storage box.

ActiLoop™ for protein crystallography
ActiLoops™ from Molecular Dimensions boast Active-Drain™ technology: A drainage groove and reservoir remove excess mother liquid from the crystal for ultra-low background and higher resolution data. The hydrophilic polymer surface reduces the volume of cryoprotectant/mother liquor retained in the loop.

CryoMount Sets are manufactured to published SPINE standards for improved precision for robotic handling, and improved stability for use with microcrystals.
